I am looking to add a larger surf rod; one that will handle plugs and metals of 3 oz, or a bit more. The 9 ft Ron Arra 1084 I use is a great rod, but it seems to be pushing it when I go over 2 1/2 oz. I've looked at both the 1205-2 and the 1322-2, as I need a 2 pc rod. Anyone have any feelings of subtle differences, other than the length? The 10 footer seems to have a little bit more backbone, and be parabolic when lexed. The longer 1322-2 seems to have more strength in it's midsection. I believe either one could handle throwing a 3 oz lure a long way. Am I right? I am leaning towards the 1322-2. Anyone with an educated opinion would be appreciated.
Also, reel selection for the above; I've been partial to Shimano Stradics for 20 years. I use 4000s on my 9 foot rods, and I was thinking of either the 5000 or 6000 with #30 braid for whichever rod I decide on. Also, I only fish from the sand, and I never fish bait. Opinions?
Thanks.
