I have a brand new XSH 156 3L custom built rod. Just got it last week. Went to the Barrier Dam on 7/2 and landed a 16+ springer, a 10lb stealhead, a smaller jack, but lost a nice springer in the rapids. The rod casted like a dream and had just enough back bone to put the halt on the fish when they wanted to head for the fast water. Nice rod!!
I went again Monday the 5th and hooked the bottom. I gave it a firm/constant pull and the rod blew up 8" above the cork. Maybe one of you were there. I was told it make a very loud CRAAAACK!!
My son was passing through Woodland yesterday and I had him bring the rod to the factory. They offered to replace it for 70% off MSRP. They needed all the pieces to perform a full, no cost refund/replacement. I didn't know it at the time but the rod broke in two places and a complete 8" section was missing. I have had rods break before, but never at two places at once. I was told they needed all pieces of the rod. I think understand why? I guess a person may attempt to pass off a neglected rod as a default by not including the section of concern. In my case this needed section is in the river.....lol
Does anyone know how I would go about contesting the policy as it pertains to my situation? I don't see a platform to do this on the site. Arron in the Warranty department was very nice...very nice, but I could tell he was providing exact application of the rules.
Now I was able to continue fishing that day, but with my 9' 6" WC 96 JS that I have had for a few years now. My cast were much shorter and I had a hard time keeping my line off the water, but did get two nice springer hens at 13 and 17 lbs.
Good fishing, and thanks... Jeff
