Hi,

I have a G1000 G 1300 T Mag Taper. Specs are 8-15lb line 1/4 to 3/4 oz

I actually bought this rod to fish for lake rainbows which get up to 15lbs. I am wondering if this rod can do double duty as a light striper california halibut plugging rod. Out here in cali, we plug with 1/2 - 3/4 hairraisers and/or fishtraps.

Can this rod handle the saltwater duties? I really like the extra fast mag taper since it can help me feel the bottom and react the bites.

I plan on using a abu 5000 or curado 30x series reel with this rod.
