I run an IC70H with an avet MXL and 25lb mono for stripers, blues, and fluke. I am thinking about
switching the mono for braid. What are your thoughts about braid on the IC70H? Are there any
ruggedness issues that should concern me? If not, and assuming I keep my drag setting of about 7-8 lbs,
what weight spectra would be a good choice?

I would run 50#. You can run what ever you would like just know the limits of what the rod will handle with your drag on your reel set correct there should be no issues. The biggest problem people run in to with rods is high sticking them. Let the butt of the rod fight the fish and not the tip and there will be no issue with the line. With 50 # that will cut the diameter of your line in half. You will like it.
