Hey everyone, i was looking to purchase the xs1061 pp model and i was wondering if the reel seat is the right size for my van staal 250. it doesnt fit right on the rod i am using now and moves all over the place when im fishing. i also heard about people taping it to the rod without a reel seat. i will be using this rod for the south side of long island and montauk, how is this rod for heavier plugs and swimmers,bucktails etc. is it a good all around rod? also i was trying to find a retailer on long island that has this rod but i cant seem to find one. i checked this web site for ret. listings but still could not find one. thank you for any replies.

Should work just fine with the VS 250. There was a period a few years back where some imported reel seats had a larger than normal rear arbor and caused some slop in the fit of the reel seat. We use Fuji and they are top quality and very consistent. I wish the reel factories and the reel seat factories would talk to each other sometime! There should be a standard that we all can rely on.

thanks john. i own two surf rods that i am currently using. the first is a sb1362m that i had custom wraped and made to fit a 706z, and my other one is from a different company. the honey rod and the 706 are a perfect combo,however my van staal doesnt really fit right into either one of them it seems the reel seats are to big. i just wanted to see if it was going to be a good fit because i want to buy this rod of the shelf instead of the blank and it looks like im going to have to buy it online. once again thanks.
