I'm looking for a good all purpose sturgeon fishing setup for fishing from a boat. A one piece 7 foot rod rated for about 20-60 lb line. With a sensitive but fast action tip and a good reel to go along with it.

I would run the BL 7050 LB It is in our Tri Flex Series. it is 7' 20-50# line rating it has a very soft tip with a ton of power in the butt end of the rod. I hope this helps have a great day.

The Shimano Tekota 600 is a great fit on that rod.

We make a bunch of fiberglass blanks for sturgeon. Are you using it for keepers oversized or both?

I will fishing Fraser river in BC Canada . I am going to fishing from my boat.
It's catch & release only here.
Thanks
Dan
The most popular rod for Boat fishing on the Fraser is the BBT1083M. Bent Rods guide Service uses them with great success.

Here fishy fishy, here fishy fishy
I am basically looking for 7 foot rod for sturgeon. Ben rod is using 9' and also it's way too heavy for my like. Does blank MB84 1E or MB84 2F can handle sturgeon? What are the action for those rod blank?
Thanks
Dan
Hello Dan
They would both be a little to light. I would recomend the CFC 84 H It is a composite blank 1/2 glass and 1/2 graphite It would work out great for you. The completed rod mod. # is BL 7050 LB. Hope this helps have a great day.

I dont know if Dan is stll looking for a good boat rod but as Josh suggested the BBT1083M is an awesome general purpose rod for fraser sturgeon. I can assure you that it handles the average 3' to 7' fish nicely with out overpowering the smaller fish and not over gunned for the larger fish. If I were to target only fish in the 7'+ range with no regard to the fight of the smaller fish I would want a heavier rod but IMO the 1083 is about as good as it gets for an all purpose boat rod.

I JUST USED AN XCF 806 ON THE COLUMBIA AND LANDED 7.5 FT STURGEON . IT PERFORMED
GREAT.
PROS
SOFT TIP WITH PLENTY OF BACK BONE
SOFT TIP IS NEEDED WHEN THEY ARE BITING SOFT
THIS IS COMMON ON THE FRASER AND IN THE SALT (SUSAN BAY) MAINLAND
CONS
I LIKE CORK HANDLES BUT THEY DO NOT HOLD UP WELL IN THE ROD HOLDERS
THE BUTT SECTION IS ALSO A BIT LONG (THIS CAUSES ADDITIONAL STRAIN ON YOUR LOWER BACK
AND THE FORE GRIP COULD BE A BIT LONGER TO BALANCE THE ROD OUT.
I PLAN TO BUILD A ROD FROM THIS BLANK MAKING THESE CHANGES.
I LIKE TO KNOW WHAT THE LAMIGLAS PRO'S THINK ABOUT IT
MAYBE YOU HAVE SOME THOUGHTS?
YOU GUYS BUILD A GREAT PRODUCT!!
