Hello everyone,
I am looking to build a side drifting rod. I have narrowed my chices down to three choices, two certified pro blanks (xsh1142 LL 9'6" 4-8LB0, (xsh1142 L 9'6 6-10LB), and 1 G1000 (GSH 1142L 9'6" 4-10). The certified pros are slighlty lighter and seem to have a faster action. xsh 1142L would seem to have more power, but has a heavier lure rating. For side drifitnig it can be crucial to have the ablity to cast the lightest possble amount of led far enough to get in the zone, but the fish on the North Oregon coast are not exactly little. they averge about 8lbs, but can go as much as 20lbs. any thoughts and opions would be welcome on any of these sticks in this application.

The XSH 114 2LL is probably going to fish the best if you are only sidedrifting. The L will be a little more universal if you plan on ever using it as a float rod.

FWIW......I just bought 5 of the EXS 96L XMG50's at the begining of the season for sidedrifting the same rivers you are talking about. Absolutely killer rods. Im not sure I would go to the lighter (4-8) for winters. You get a fish in the mid to upper teens and you are going to want that little extra backbone that the 6-10 has. I sidedrifted with these rods this winter in the lowest flows I can remember and they fished great with the lightest lead I could get away with.
Good luck
