Is it ok for surf spinning and shore jigging?

there are alot of issues to consider, however the XTS105 should suffice if you keep your line and wieghts to specs.

If the XTS105 is an 8.5' three piece rod you should have no issues. I built my partner a salmon travel spin rod on the corresponding Lamiglas blank and he fishes it, from the beach, using 1-2oz plugs, a Quantum Cabo size 40 reel loaded with twenty pound PowerPro and a light drag setting. He had no troubl with "blitzing" schools of ten pound bluefish and striped bass this past November on Island Beach State Park. His rod was built with a fairly small stripping guide to keep it compact for travel and still he was able to cast the light lures for salmon in Alaska and the heavier stuff for the bass and blues in New Jersey. Make sure you take care of you factory cork grip (wash it gently after each outing to ensure a longer life).
