MBC 702 UL

Are the eyes on this rod braid friendly? I'm interested in switching over from 8# mono to 10# PowerPro, while targeting Lake Washington Cutts. I think I'll get a better hook set, and the incoming info will telegraph to my rod tip much better. Just not sure if the eyes will hold up? thoughts?

Mario, to get a better

Mario, to get a better hookset with that rod I would go to a Flourocarbon leader and stick with the mono line. I think you'll find the stretch in mono is what you really want in an ultra-light setup. Cutts tend to bump then strike and run and the FC, with zero stretch, will set the hook for you but the mono will cushion the shock. Overall I think you'll see better results with the FC/Mono setup.
