I was wondering if you could describe the difference in the action of the xc724 senko rod compared to the xc704 or 704j. I am assuming that the senko rod has a light tip that loads easily for weightless plastics ect. but wanted to know for sure, just going from line- lure weights they seem very similar.

The XC 724 is slower in action so it loads farther down the rod.

The 724 is a slower action than the 704 for sure but it has tremendous backbone. The 724 will handle any pitching with weighted plastics. Don't equate the XMG 724 with the XC 724 Senko. They are a different blank and the action in the XC is transmitted further down the length of the blank. You won't miss with any of the three models.

The XC724 Senko has become a very popular rod for a number of the techniques besides Senkos like pitchin' heavier plastics and fishing jigs. Its got excellent hook setting power which you need when using these techniques because of the larger hook sizes and diameters.
The XC704 and XC704J are better suited to lighter applications (smaller worms, 1/4-3/8oz. jigs, etc)

I highly recommend the XC704 to anyone looking for a versatile rod for fishing a variety of reaction baits. It has become my go-to rod for diving crankbaits, lipless crankbaits, smaller swimbaits w/ treble hooks, larger rip baits (jerkbaits) and even some open water spinnerbait applications. The Mod/Fast action does a tremendous job of keeping hard fighting fish buttoned up, while the graphite blank offers excellent sensitivity and responsiveness.
