I recently noticed that my Certified Pro x96js has cracking in the finish above wear all of the eyes connect to the rod. I don't think this makes the rod any weaker, but I go out of my way to fish lamiglas' and I kind of expect a little better quality. The rod does show some fishing wear, but it is in very good condition aside from the problem I described above. I know I can send it in with $70 and get a new one in return, but I was hoping I had another cheaper option since it seems like a defect that I am not at fault for. Can anyone help me, I tried to call today but the office is only open mon-fri. Any advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Jeremy

Sounds like the urethane finish is cracking/flaking a bit. It can happen over time as the blank can be more flexible than the finish. Any blank can do this over time, about the only ones I haven't seen do this was the G Loomis and St Croix matt finishes. They were very soft and had other problems all their own, so they weren't perfect either.
It's cosmetic only, the finish is only needed to change the blank color or give it a shine. If it was me I'd go enjoy it till or if something important fails. You can try wiping some thinned urethane varnish with your finger in the area to see if it helps seal it up again.
No one knows as much as all of us.
