blank to use on stripers with abu 6500

Hi,
I want to build a 9' rod to use with my ABU 6500C3. I grew up in Australia (a long time ago) and used a Silaflex FT-70 blank with a butt extension which was really popular then; this was a really fast taper rod that could handle casting unweighted bait as well as heavier baits & lures. What blank would you recommend that is similar - very fast taper with a light tip, long-casting, able to handle bass & blues? I fish around Long Island.
thanks

what about a GLB1082ML?

what about a GLB1082ML? Anyone had any experience with this blank using a 6500 for stripers?

I wrapped a CSB1082M for a guy that fishes stripers and blues in the cape. It's a triflex so it has a really soft tip with plenty of backbone. He fishes mostly sluggos from the surf and is very happy with the blank. I never got a chance to fish that particular blank, but it has an 8 tip and an .828 butt so that may be a little heavy for your 6500c3. I believe he paired it up with an 850 penn spinfisher. Definitely look at some of the triflex rods. Seems like its right along the lines of what your looking for.

rlmaxted, you mentioned you used to fish a blank with a butt extension. I am putting a butt extension on a cod jigging rod right now using texalium tubing seems to be working out just fine, but I had never done a butt extension before so I was wondering if anyone had any better insight on this?
