It wouldn't void the warranty, but your butt grip length may get a bit to long in the process and start hanging up on your clothing, etc. while fishing. You'll gain 3/4 to 1 inch extra grip length due to the knob on the end or the butt cap. They may let you cut a bit off the butt to fix than without voiding your warranty.
