Walleye rod suggestion?

I'm interested in a good "all around" walleye rod to pair with a citica reel. I will be trolling worm harnesses and jigging blade baits with this rig in the Columbia River mainly downstream of Bonneville (Camas area). Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I just got done reading "Columbia River Walleye II" by Ron Boggs. He mentions his favorite rod for such activity is "Lamiglass All around Walleye Rod". Obviously some things have changed since 1995 but curious what would close to this in action.

Thanks

I have quite a few walleye

I have quite a few walleye rods- most Lami's and spent alot of time on the Columbia fishing for them.

Best one in my book is the Lamiglas XMG50 series ECX722 (listed under bass rods). That's the best all around for trolling and jigging. A bit too fast for plug pulling. Second best would be Certified Pro x704c (listed under bass rods).

Last year I picked up a couple of rods out of the Woodland 2nd's rack which are actually salt water in-shore one piece rods 7'6 Indian River series (IRFA763c). They are perfect for harness trolling- a bit long for jigging though.

I do have an old Ron Boggs Lami walleye rod I hardly ever use. Not a bad rod though.

Thing haven't changed since

Thing haven't changed since 1995 as far as the right rod for walleye on the Columbia. Closest rod to his All Around rod is the VS 661. His rod was the old 6 ft version, same power and action. Works for most presentations except blade baits, (Ripple Tails, Silver Buddys) with is best done with a MH power 6 1/2 to 7 ft bass rod. Heavier bouncers/ worm rigs can use the same blade bait rod.

No one knows as much as all of us.

I have a good lamiglas i use

I have a good lamiglas i use for trolling for walleye. What i'm looking for is a jigging rod for 3/4 oz. blade baits.Would like to buy one at the sportsmen show next week.

Kevin, You want a medium

Kevin,
You want a medium heavy mag bass rod for that. The fellows at the Lamiglas booth will be able to help you. You want to look for a stiffer tip to start the bladebait quickly.
I'd look at the XC 705. When your not walleye fishing that rod will do a bunch of other duties over many species.

No one knows as much as all of us.

Dito on the EXC722!!! Iv'e

Dito on the EXC722!!! Iv'e built 10+ for customers, & it's the ONE rod I'd have if I only could have one. It sells itself! Prospective buyers pick it up and w/out fail say something like "holy crap it's lite as a feather"!!! It's got a HUGE butt for the size of tip, hence the designation "Mag Taper"
