Trolling Rod Suggestions

I'm looking to purchase (2) new trolling rods. I mainly fish for lakers and salmon in Lake Champlain. I have Big Jon Brute down riggers on my Scout 187.

Thanks for any and all suggestions.

Look at our Certified Pro

Look at our Certified Pro Fiberglass lineup. Depending on what you are looking for in length, I am sure we make something that would work for you. Those rods all fish downriggers well and make great salmon trolliung rods.

the certifed pro rods are

the certifed pro rods are fantastic rods i'd say. but the rod of choice for me is the hot shot magnum
G 1330-T series. i used the rod out in the ocean for silvers when we had the opener in oregon. nothing but good things to say about it. fun rod for the smaller silvers but when we accidently hooked up a 30+ king, had no problems handeling them.

I usually stay away from

I usually stay away from graphite rods and downriggers, glass is better here.
Historically downrigger rods take more abuse, both from the downriggers, rod holders and the people using them, than their flatline rods get.
About the only graphite rod Lamiglas makes that I'd use and have seen successfully used by guides, etc for the same use is the Kenai Special rods. About the only thing they wouldn't do well for you where your at is they wouldn't like a big Dipsey Diver.
The same action and power can also be had in the Salmon Moocher rods either the 8 1/2 ft or 9 ft versions. The 8 1/2 ft model is actually the same blank.

No one knows as much as all of us.

I would look in to the XCF

I would look in to the XCF 903 or the XCF 862 both will work great for your application depending upon what length you would prefer. 903 is 9' 862 is 8'6". Both are Certified Pro Glass Models, and fish great in a Down Rigger. Hope this helps have a great day.
