TBS 86 ML vs TBC 92 MJ???

I own a TBS 86 ML that has the versatility need to cover every type on fishing I need it to do here in the desert lakes of Nevada.

There is a man that trying to trade me a TBC 92 MJ for my TBS 86 ML, my question is: What are the differenced between these two rods besides one is casting and one spinning?

Also in this trade I get a second rod of my choice, so the 2nd question is: What spinning rod would come the closest to replacing my TBS 86 ML in every way?

If I was as happy with the rod you own as you appear to be, I wouldn't trade it. The rod he's offering it's anything like your rod and I can't think of a rod made by Lamiglas or anyone else that has the same characteristics is your rod.

No one knows as much as all of us.

Agree, I would keep the ML.

Agree, I would keep the ML. They are kind of hard to find and there is a reason the guy is willing to give you 2 rods for the 1. If you really like it as much as it sounds, I would keep it.

Nothing will replace your TBS

Nothing will replace your TBS 86ML. It is my favorite spinning rod ever. However, if you can buy the 92 from the guy, I'd definately do that. It's my favorite cating rod ever!

I can have one but not both.

I can have one but not both. I am as good at handling a casting rod as I am a spinning rod, the man with the TBC 92 MJ gets a bird nest every time he uses a casting set up.

I wish I could have gotten answers to my questions so I could make an informed decision, instead of advice about what decision to make. I would possibly be ordering a new top end Lamiglas rod to finish out the trade.

Besides the TBS 86 ML I have a TBC 86 H, a EXS 96 LL, a X 96 JS, a Esprit EC 906, a G 1314-T, a G 1298-6, a CC 561 and 3 others rods of different brands than Lamiglas, a G Loomis ultra-lite, an E21 Carrot Stick and a stiff little Ice rod.

I fish for Lahontan cut throat from a boat and shore all winter long in pyramid lake, Walleye, Wiper and cats in Rye Patch Reservoir and trout and bass in smaller lakes around the area during the summer.

If anyone that knows the answers to my questions please feel free to answer.

86ML is rated 6-12 line. The 9'2'' is rated 6-15, but fishes much heavier than the ML in my opinion. But maybe that's just the difference between spinning and casting reels.

If you're throwing real light weight, the 9'2'' is not for you. It doesn't load enough with light weight to throw the lead fast enough to keep up with the spinning spool.

If you do want to make the switch, the G1325 is a fairly comparable rod in strength to your ML.

I thought I answered your question. No one makes a X Fast rod in your length, line weight, or similar rod material. A world class rod you love in your hand is worth 20 so-so rods. Your friend can have a rod built on the Rainshadow IST 993 blank which is about as close as your going to get to your rod. Fastest light line blank near that length I know of.

Spoonplugger1, yes you kindly

Spoonplugger1, yes you kindly took the time to advise me that there was no rod made a rod with the same characteristics as the TBS 86 ML which went toward answering question number two. I do appreciate your time but I was looking for the 'whats and whys' instead of an abstract answer.

butwhymalemodels, explained fairly well what I was looking for.

Thanks to every one who posted.
