scratch in my rod

I have a good size scratch in my rod its about 1/16 deep 2 or 3" long.. will that weaken it? what to do?

Without knowing more about the blank I'd have to say something that deep and big is a problem.

Coho, put your question in a new post. Include as much info as you can like bank or boat? Line weight you want to use and lures/bait.
