Rod Choice

I'm looking for a new partyboat rod for East Coast deep water fluke and blackfishing. I like the Tri Flex Graphite Inshore TFX7030 C 3/4 - 3, or the TFX7030 CT 3-6. What is the difference, does the CT have more backbone or lifting power, I would probably be using normally 4 to 8 ounces of lead to hold bottom. Not the same as casting as you are just dropping straight down. I don't want to go to heavy as I need to feel the bite and I also have a heavier Lamiglas for even stronger currents. I was hoping to use 30lb braid on a Shimano calcutta 400 or 700, or maybe a Saltist. Any suggestions on Rod and matching reel would be greatly appreciated.

Hello The TFX 7030 CT

Hello

The TFX 7030 CT would be a great choice. They are designed for Blackfish. They are built with more back bone with a similar tip. It would be the rod of choice for your application.

I use the Tri-Flex BL6630

I use the Tri-Flex BL6630 which is 6" shorter and has foam grips on party boats for deep water fluking and blackfish. It handles 8ozs easily. I use 30lb braid on an Avet SX and it's a sweet, well balanced outfit.

Good Luck.

I have a question, Why the

I have a question, Why the spinning rod ron arra or oders only have 5 guides or the tripe flex have 6 guides.
It´s not better more guides to separate the stress. thanks from canary island

Nordeste good question. Many

Nordeste good question. Many people on the east coast believe that less is more on guides and that more guides causes friction. So in this case the market dictates the product.

I'm looking to purchase a new

I'm looking to purchase a new boat rod for a spinning setup. I'm planning to match the rod up with a Penn SARGUS 6000 reel. Probably go for a 7'-0" length, but not positive. I fish off the CT coast on the Long Island Sound. Mostly stripers (5-30 lbs), blackfish (3-15lbs), and bluefish (3-15lbs). Also do some fishing off Montauk and the South Shore of Long Island.....again, boat fishing. I want the sensitivity to be able to read what the bait/lure is doing when trolling the bottom, but I also want a decent strength rod to take the action of a large fish. What would recommend?

The TFX 7030 S 7' 1 piece

The TFX 7030 S 7' 1 piece 3/4-3oz 15-30# line rating. This would be a great all purpose rod for you. Hope this helps have a great day.
