I am looking for a 8' or 8.5' MH 2-pc spinning rod to use with a Penn Pursuit 6000 for casting artificials in salt water. Because of the amount of casting I want something lightweight but most of the rods in this category are too heavy and/or bulky. I am thinking some of the salmon/steelhead rods might work since they are available in fairly small diameter graphite with cork handles. Any ideas for a light-enough-to-cast-for-hours rod, or am I looking for something that doesn't exist? Thanks.

You didn't mention how much weight your throwing.
No one knows as much as all of us.
I fish jigs, spoons, Mirrolure type plugs 1/2 to 1-1/2 oz on 17 to 20# mono in bay/Gulf/inlet. Might occasionally use bait or slightly heavier spoon or jig and go up to 2 or 3 oz but not often enough to consider a factor in rod selection. I mainly want a rod that is sturdy but lightweight enough to do a lot of casting. Thanks for any help anyone can give.
I like the Kenai Special Spin, it is the same physical weight as the Med Hvy Spin, and I think the moderate action of the Kenai Special works better with your treble hooked lures. I think it would be a better rod for the occasional heavier offering also.
I've owned two of the casting versions for 30+ years, still love and use them, they are very versatile rods.
There is also the Kenai Pro Spin, it would work I think well if the treble hooked lures were more of the larger size with larger hooks. The physical weight of the blank goes up 50 percent, so there is also some more durability there, this is the 50+ lb salmon rod of choice.

I'll look at both of those. Thank you.
