I have the new 9 ft 6 in X11 rod rated 6 -12 lb. I want to use it for steelhead fishing. I was thinking of pairing it with the Okuma Avenger Baitfeeder, ABF-40 260 yds of 12 lb, max drag of 14 lb, and weight 16.3 oz, or ABF-50 390 yds of 12 lb, max drag of 17 lb and weight of 17.3 oz. any thoughts?

Your over thinking it a bit. Drag pressure means squat unless your saltwater fishing big fish on light gear. That Okuma weighs about 50% to twice what I'd put on that nice rod. Try something in the 2500 to 3000, 25 to 30 reel size. Keep the weight 13 ounces or under, you don't need anymore line capacity than the little bass reels they use on the casting rods have. I use 8 or 10 lb line on spinning rods your size, if I start using heavier line I go to a casting rod, rod's are much lighter and better balanced that way.
