I'm looking for a good conventional rod that some backbone to it, yet is sensitive. The rod will be used mainly for bottom fishing in the Long Island Sound, by bridges and inlets, and in the Ocean were there is some strong currents. If possible i would like an all- purpose rod that can handle porgies, sea bass, fluke, stripers, and bluefish.
I am looking at the tfx 7030ct & tfx 7040ct. Will the 7030ct be to light to handle sinkers up to 12 ounces or will the 7040ct be to stiff? Is the another rod that i didn't notice that would fit the bill?
The rod will be matched up to a penn international 975 with 30 pound Power Pro.
Any advice will be greatly appreciated

Desribe what you mean by sensitive, many on the east coast mean that they want a softer tip that telegraphs the pickup, and the rod is in a pole holder a lot.
No one knows as much as all of us.
avm,
I use the Inshore Classic IC84 series for the same as your intended use. I like the heavy (IC84H) for fishing in the Race and other fast moving water when heavy sinkers are required. 50# down to 20# Power Pro works fine. I like the medium (IC84M) with 20# PP for that very sensitive feel required for Tatog, Sea Bass, Porgies and Fluke. The medium heavy (IC84MH) would be a great compromise rod for all Long Island Sound fishing and a great rod for Stripers up to 50# and those pesky Blues.
