The IM 700 blanks are used much more in the Certified Pro rods than they used to be. You'll see this in the above chart.
IM 700 come in many actions you just change the designated series to get what you want. Crankbait and more moderate actions are found in the popping blanks. Remember a fast actioned bass blank is not the same as a fast action popping or other blank. You can compare bass to bass, but not bass to saltwater, popping, salmon/steelhead. Relative tip action, line rating, blank power will not be linear.
Sometimes the action is similar, but the power is a bit lighter, this will make the blank feel more moderate actioned and it will work for you just as nicely as a true moderate blank under many conditions. This is true with all blanks, fly, bass, whatever.
Rod tip action, within reason,has little to do with the actual performance of the blank, if the mid and butt powers aren't similar.
Many myths out there, one is that fast action rods are more sensitive, not true. Just the opposite is usually true.
High modulus blanks are better than lower modulus, not true. More sensitive than lower modulus, not true all the time, see above about fast actions. Fast action blanks/ high modulus blanks will also be easier to break. Your picking a great series to learn from, good sensitvity, extensive choices, history of being light but durable.
