Reported Super Surf Guide Wraps Cracking

I am considering purchasing a Super Surf 10' rod (SS101MS).

After reading a few posts on forums about people reporting cracked guide wraps & noise created from this condition I am a bit concerned.

The reason these people say causes the cracking is the length of the guide foot which is a "casting" type concept guide which is longer than a spinning type. The SS101MS rod having a parabolic action causes the cracking when flexed & a resulting noise / creaking. One person reported the guides being loose even to the touch.

They go onto say, to just ignore this condition & use the rod.

I would really appreciate hearing an explanation of this phenomena from Lamiglas, if in fact it is true & been reported.

I am hoping that this is an non existent issue that I wouldn't have to be concerned with if I purchase this rod model as it doesn't seem to fall in line with a top of the line model.

I own a SS91MHS & love this rod.

Any help would greatly be appreciated.

We did have some squeaky

We did have some squeaky guides when we first introduced the SS rods. It was a combined issue between our under wrapping and the epoxy we used.
As for us using casting guides I have heard this many times and always found it funny. What would anyone do with a size 50 casting guide? They are just another style spinning guide. The theory that the feet were too long does not ad up as we already were grinding the feet shorter before we found the problem. We have switched to the new "Spinning" style alconite guide now that they offer it in a size 50. The problem went away with our change in epoxy. Good question.

Thanks so much for your quick response.

Thanks too for allaying my concerns about the guides & providing your explanation.

Looks like I will be purchasing the 10 footer.

Keep up the good work.
