I am looking for a good halibut rod that will work with a Penn 320 GTI reel that I have. Any suggestions? Would a sturgeon boat rod work for halibut?

Most sturgeon rods are a bit light tiped for the weight used for most halibut fishing (36-64oz) but will work fine. If you are fishing a lot of lead than I would go with a BFC6080, if not than use your sturgeon rod.

When I first started Hali fishing I used a sturgeon rod but as mentioned above they are a little light in the tip and can really fatigue you for a long day of fishing deep waters. I use a BFC 5610 RT paired with a 330GT2 and I love it. One of my favorite Lamiglas rods to be sure. It has all the power you could ever want and still leaves for an enjoyable fight on decent sized hali's.
