I'm really wanting to start a build once money allows but I don't really know the first thing about rods. I need to find out things like finding the spine, how to position it, etc. I also need help with guides and the spacing. I have been looking into the REC recoil snake guides and other components by them. Some other techniques I need to learn would be how to wrap the guides, color preserver, epoxies ,and anything else that I forget to mention or do not know. Thanks for any help you can offer.

Buy the rodbuilding book by Tom Kirkman, best $15 bucks you can spend. It covers it all. REC snakes are pretty spendy as far as guides go and I'm not sure how much advantage they would be on shorter rods. Correct guide sizes as mentioned in Tom's book will give you better overall results. They are also fairly soft as guides go and can groove over time. If your thinking about their flexibility, it's pretty much a non-issue on rods as far as damage goes. More so on a single foot guide though.
Spine is a non-issue, build on the straightest axis.
No one knows as much as all of us.
