lamiglas 8'6" tri flex surf rod

i just purchased a older model tri flex 8'6"surf rod,lure weight is set at 5/8-2 ounce.newer model is at 5/8- 3.
would it be ok to throw a 3 ounce lure with the older rod i have or would i be over stressing it?

You will be just fine to use

You will be just fine to use 3 ounces with that rod, occasionally we will change a decal to what a pro-staff member or a certain region will call for. On occasion certain decals may be changed for the technique most fisherman are using as well. Either way you will be just fine with 3 ounces. Hope this helps.
