SS9MS VS XSRA 1083 POWER?

Josh,

If possible could you let me know which of these two rods has the more moderate or "Medium" power rating and the actual rod weight of each rod.

The two rods are the Super Surf SS9MS and the Ron Arra XSRA 1083.

I'm leaning towards the Super Surf as it seems like it might be just a bit more versatile having the top lure weight @ 2oz.

I already have the Super Surf SS91MHS & was looking for something that loads a little more easily ie. "Medium" power, not "Medium Heavy" as the SS91MHS, for use with lighter plugs.

The ss is a bit more of a mod. action and will be a bit more versatile. While the XSRA is a bit lighter both in power and weight.
SS9MS=10.4oz
XSRA1083=9.4oz

Josh, My first plugging rod

Josh,

My first plugging rod was a two piece version of the XSRA1083 and I now use the SS9MS. The 1083 has a slightly softer feel but could only handle up to 1-1 1/4 OZ effectively. It was occasionally overmatched on the beachfront so I limited it to the back bays. The SS9MS on the other hand can handle the full 2 OZ without breathing hard. It has way more backbone and can handle fish on the beachfront as well as in the back bays.

will the SS9MS throw a 2oz

will the SS9MS throw a 2oz wood plug very well, or is that starting to get out of its sweet spot?

David
