I'm looking for a rod to fish roe under a float. I need something long enough to mend the line off the water. I will be fishing for chinook in the american river in Sacramento, CA.

I'd go with the XSH 106MHC, exactly what it was built for.
No one knows as much as all of us.
I would suggest you take a look at the X 106 MHC, although it is a little bit heavy for 12lb. flour leader you will just need to be careful on your hooksets. Hope this helps.
