Hello and thanks in advance for the feedback. I'm looking for a longer (minimum 7') spinning rod for throwing light crankbaits - from 1/8 - 3/8oz. I fish mainly for walleyes and use either 8lb mono or 20lb suffix braid. My main goal for this setup is to get maximum casting distance for light lures.
I'm looking for suggestions for the best lamiglas spinning rod for this technique? What about the Skeet Reese Drop Shot Rod - SR 743S? It has good length... would the mod/fast action load up and really launch a light crank?
Thanks

I would recommend you look at the XPS703 or the EXS722 for your application. I would probably lean towards the XPS. The SR is a little on the stiff side for that.

Thanks, I was curious if you would also recommend the XPS 763 for throwing light cranks. Looks like the XPS 763 is rated for a bit heavier line and lures than the XPS703, but they are both mod/fast, so I hoped the 763 would load up nicely as well, and I would prefer the additional length. Unless, of course, the XPS763 would be a bit stiff for throwing light baits.
Thanks again
I think I'd look at the Rogue River RR 76 2MTS for your application.
Not too many years ago Lamiglas and others made some very nice 7 ft 6 in and 8 ft rods and blanks for this purpose, but for a different fish species. Now there are many people in walleye and especially smallmouth fishing that are looking for an edge to get that extra 20 ft or so in spring with small cranks, in clearwater or for spooky fish.
Hopefully the rods/blanks will come back as more customers ask for them.
No one knows as much as all of us.
763 would be great also.
