I have been debating on purchasing a plug rod, but really have no clue about plug rods due to always being a drift and bobber fisherman. So my question is, I have an old esprite graphite S86 MTC-T is this considered a plug rod and if so how does it compare to plug rods?

The rods we make specifically for plug fishing are a blended material of fiber glass and graphite to allow the fish to rip the rod down with out ripping the plug away from the fish. Your S86MTC would work ok but you may end up missing a few fish that you should not have missed by upgrading to more of a true "plug rod". Hope that makes some sense.
