What would be the best intended use for this model of rod. I found a great deal on this one time only used rod for an excellent price and would like to put it to it's best use. If it was given to you, what would you purpose it as?
The stats are different on the rod as compared to this site though. The rod is rated for 3/8 - 1oz and line weight of 10-20lbs. Your website shows the XC 664 as 3/16 - 5/8oz and line weight of 8-17. Is the one I am looking at an older rod? And if so, how old?
Please advise. Thanks,
Chris

What color is the blank? The older ones were brown and a favorite jig rod. Also good a soft plastic twitching bait rig, anytime your dragging a bait, or shaking a bait also.
No one knows as much as all of us.
That Rod is also good for throwing senkos in my opinion....

That is one of my favorite rods for several techniques, including dropshotting for largemouth bass with 10 lb test line when that matches the conditions (like dock fishing for largemouths with a dropshot rig); and also fishing soft jerkbaits.
Actually, it works great whenever you need to use a spinning rod with 8-12lb test line for bass (or walleye). I tend to use a 3-power more for smallmouth, and this 4-power more for largemouths, but the 664 does work great on smallies with soft jerkbaits and largemouths as well. Also works well with tubes.

You guys are great. I knew I was getting into a quality rod that would serve many purposes without being locked into my head as a "Technique Specific" rod. I'm buying it for $50 from a salmon fisherman who just didn't like fishing for green fish...Silly Silver fishermen. SWEET deal on a quality rod. Thanks again. Chris
Yes, that is a steal on a great rod! Congratulations on the find.

Chris,
Nice buy ! Wait till you chuck spinnerbaits and buzzbaits with your XC664. This model can do alot, frogs, jigs senkos and heavier crankbaits.
