Excel series guides

Hey guys, love lamiglas rods in general and the excel series except for two aspects. On my XL 705 Glass, the orange copper finish is flaking and peeling like crazy. It doesn't affect the performance of the rod, but the cosmetics are definitely negatively affected. In speaking with Lamiglas representatives I have been told that this is the case with most of the first generation excel rods. Not a big deal yet. I still love the rod. Furthermore, the second guide up from the butt of the rod is the only guide skewed off to the right pretty significantly. On my XL 7116C, the ceramic inserts on the top three guides, including the tip, are always popping out. This is especially the case with braid. I superglue them back in and they continue to fall out. One of the guides is now completely missing the ceramic insert. It's definitely a pain because the rod is incredible and the action is perfect. So much so that I would buy a second XL 7116C in a heartbeat if there wasn't this problem. Is there any way you guys could send me some replacement guides for the XL 7116 C and a replacement tip guide? If I do the repair or have the guides professionally replaced does that void the warranty? I am reluctant to send the rod(s) in to you guys because in my experience sending in broken certified pro rods it has taken upwards of 4 months to get the rod back. As I'm sure you can understand, I can't go that long without a cranking or flipping stick being a tournament angler. And I'm not looking to buy backups or replacements just yet. What should I do? Thanks a ton,

Antony Monraz

See you out on the water

The early Excel rods I seen

The early Excel rods I seen had American Tackle guides. Guide replacement does not void the warranty in anyway.

No one knows as much as all of us.

If you are just needing to

If you are just needing to get guides re-wrapped the turn around time is 2-3 weeks. As far as four months goes in the past? My only thought is that you must of had a rod that was on back order for a multitude of reasons, back ordered on material, guide company back orders us through china, thread company is out of the certain color. Many different ways the rod could have been back ordered. Let us know if we can assist you further.
