Musky Rod

I am looking to buy a new musky rod and would like to know what rod would work the best overall for bucktails
and small jerk bait, the LGM-8' or the LGM 7'-6". I also would like to know if either would work with a large saltwater reel, as I am going to Cabo San Lucus for Marlins and want to use my own rod.
