Need help choosing a new spinning rod. Our rivers in Nor Cal are skinny and I typically run slinkies with 2-3 .250 shot. Since I am thowing light weight and fragile baits, I have opted for a spinning rod. I have heard good things about the XMG 50 series, and think I will pick one up. I will be using it almost exclusively for drift fishing small roe clusters from the bank with 8-10 lb. line. Here's the catch...our river has kings and steelies in it at the same time, so I want something that is light enough and has a good action for fishting 3-8 lb steelies, while at the same time having enough backbone to handle 15-20 lb kings. I know...needle in a haystack.
Someone has recommended the 96 L, but will it handle the bigger fish? I have read on this board that the 92 M "balances better"...does this mean it in not tip heavy with a 2500 spinning reel attached and the 96 L is tip heavy? I also heard that the 92 M is stiffer....too stiff to be fun on 3-8 lb steelies?
Sorry for all of the questions. Thanks in advance for advice. NCD.

If the Chinook were not in the river I would go with the 96, but the 92 will fish fine and be able to handle the larger fish and not be too powerful for 3-8lb steelhead. Most people are referring to the 96M when they say the 92 balances better not the 96l. The 96L is a great feeling rod.
