I have an older GSH1022MH blank I inherited, I am looking to build this rod and am planning on using it to fish for salmon in the San Juans and Puget Sound. I currently use Penn 209-309 reels on my fiberglass mooching rods but for this project also have a brand new Shimano single action reel I would like to use for this package.
What components such as guides,(Type, how many and sizes), guide spacing, reel seat and cork handle would be the best for this application?
