Hey all, I'm looking to upgrade my flipping stick which is a 7' heavy power, fast action rod that I got years ago so I'm going to try something else. My problem is I don't care for the super long 7'6" to 8' rods for flipping, if I need to go that far I'm pretty good pitching which is what I do 90% of the time anyway but I would like a 7' 2" up to 7'4"but the problem is most rods that size aren't heavy enough but the specs on the XL735C seem to be right in line with what I've been using, the only problem is I've heard from others that the XL is almost a full power under what the rod rating stated is, for example a medium heavy is more like a medium. If someone knows of this rod and whether or not I can use it to flip with I would greatly appreciate it, thanks.

We designed the rod for flipping applications. The power issue you are referring to is all relative to the are in which you are fishing. For instance different locations are going to rate rods differently. I would suggest going down to the local tackle shop and feeling one before you buy it. That way you will know exactly what you are getting.
I agree with Lamiglas on feeling out the rod before purchase, but I can tell you from my own testimony that is is the perfect medium cover flipping stick. I land a 6 + with easy, I wouldn't use it for weight higher than an ounce even though it says otherwise on the rod, tend to overload if you go higher.
I own 2 of these and they are pretty solid for Flipping and Pitching. I also have used the rod for top water frog fishing in heavy cover. If I have any issue it is the rod can get a bit heavy after 8+ hours of use, but it is a great rod for the money. Good Luck!
