Downrigger rods

I'm looking for advice on matching a Lamiglas saltwater downrigger rod to a Shimano TEK600LC reel. I'm downrigger trolling for feeder kings in saltwater. Any suggestions on a model #? Which is better 8'6" or 9'?

I would take a look at the

I would take a look at the XCC 903 for what you are doing. We designed that rod for the downrigger fishery in the Sound area. Hope this helps.
