Hello, Could Anyone from this forum please help me decide on which steelhead float rod to get. I fish the Rogue /Applegate Rivers mainly so I will want a summer/winter Steelhead float rod. I picked out the X10mls at Sportman's yesterday but on way out picked up a XMG 50 rod. Wow I like the feel and lightness of the XMG! My only concern is if the EXS 106ML spin will feel as light as the Cert Pro X 106MLS due to it being rated slightly heavier at 6-12 3/8-3/4. They did not have a XMG 50 EXS106 ML to feel. I would have to order one:) Is the EXS 106ML light enough for the summer time steelhead throwing lighter 1/16-1/8 jigs/floats? I know I like the feel/lightness of the XMG 50 just want to be sure its not too much for the summer run smaller fish:) due too being 3/8-3/4. Thanks everyone for your time and help.

I have the xmg EXS 106 ML for summer run float fishing. I use it for winter steelhead float fishing to but Id trade it for a cert pro 96 JC for winter fish in a second. Xmg rods are expensive for float rods and there is no need for sensitivity when your watching a float go down. Cert pros are plenty good enough for float fishing. The xmg EXS 106 ML is light enough to have fun playing out a 4lb summer run and heavy enough to fight small kings. I love it but its too long for my boat and wish i had the 96JC instead. The 96JC is good for throwing spinners for silvers, light rigs for summer steelhead, and perfect for winter steelhead. I also run the X 96 LS 6-10 for winter and summer run fish.
