I started fishing about 2 years ago. I've been using a Shimano Clarus 8-14. I would like a rod that will give me better feel and greater cast. I use a Curado reel for drift, spoon, and float fishing. I would like to catch both salmon and steelhead. I fish from the bank of the Kalama and Lewis. Is there a rod that you recommend?

Your Shimano doesn't ring a bell, I've never seen one with you line specs and you didn't mention length or anything else about your rod.
Your asking a lot from one rod as the lengths, terminal tackle loads and line weights needed for just floatfishing salmon and steelhead on the Lewis are not very condusive to drift fishing for steelhead. Like golf you need more than one club to play.
That said I'd probably get the X 10 MTC, way more rod than you normally need for steelhead, especially in the summer, but with a tip that will at least cast and drift a steelhead drift setup.
If steelhead is your primary target and you can live with fishing smaller salmon species, or lighter line and power for salmon setups/presentations than I'd go with the X 96 JC, works well with all your gear.
No one knows as much as all of us.
The rod is a shimano clarus medium action 9ft 8-14 line weight. It's the old I'm-7. I figured that there isn't a do- all rod, just looking for a place to start. I hear good things about the x 96 jc. If I got the x 96 jc for steelies and silvers, what would you recomend for chinook? I want quality rods, just need to buy one at a time. Thanks for the help
