I'm looking to purchase a new rod for the girl friend. I introduced her to salmon and steelhead fishing last fall and now shes hooked! Problem is, she hates using my rods for she complains that they are too long? All of my rods are 8'6" and longer.
So I'm looking for a Salmon/Steelhead rod about 7'6"/7'8" with Med/Hvy power (8-17 line wt.)
One of the rods I'm actually looking at for her is the Rogue River Special RR76MTS. This is a fast action in the 6-12 line wt, but still has good sensitivity. I think this would be a great rod for humpy's, coho, steelhead and even chum, but I'm still looking for something heavy enough to handle a fresh king.
Any thoughts about the Rogue River? and any suggestions about another rod I should be looking at?
The rogue river special would be a great rod for her for the fisheries that you just mentioned. As far as a rod that is much heavier goes you will have to go to something out of our Salt water series spinning rods. Something out of our Tri-Flex graphite inshore series should work well for you.
