Looking for spinning rod to cast 2 oz spoons and bucktails and plugs for distance in tailrace for stripers and hybrids. Need more distance than what I get with 10 ft Tsunami airwave. Looking at XSRA 1322-2? 1-5 oz. How well will this throw 2 oz?

As far as distance goes it will depend on how big of a reel you are using and what type of line and other variables, but you should be able to cast as far as you need to with relative ease. I hope this helps.
Thanks for the reply. I am not sure if you were speaking of the XSRA 1322-2 or my 10 ft Tsunami 2-4? I am using a 2 oz spoon, 20 # powerpro braid and Diawa Emblem Pro A 5000. Do you think the 1322 will load properly with 2 oz? I have read on "forums" that this rod throws 3 oz better. Generally, do you think I would notice a significant difference in distance over the 10 ft Tsunami? Given that I am looking for more distance with 2 oz (for striper fishing) what rods would you reccommend?
Thanks
Mike

I would suggest the XSRA 1322-2 or the XS 11MS. Both of these rods should be able to handle what you are looking to do. The XS 11MS will throw lighter weight a little bit easier. I hope this helps.

Thanks for your help. When you say that the xs 11MH is easier to throw lighter weight easier what do you mean? Is it more forgiving for less experienced casters and easier to load? Does this have to do with the moderate action? My observations have been that when I try a stiffer rod my casting spoon flops around more and I am less consistant with my casts (it is either a pretty good cast or a really bad cast as far as distance goes. I like to know as much as I can in order to make a good decision on which rod to purchase? This will be a big investment for me. Thank you in advance for helping me.

would the penn spinfisher model 850ssm spinning reel be a good choice for the Lamiglas XSRA 1322-2 11'-1-5-oz or would the Daiwa saltist spinning reel model STT5000H or STT6000H be a good choice
