Guys,
I'm new to salmon fishing and just started this year. I've been catching fair numbers of pinks and coho in the nearby rivers. I currently use a Berkley Air IM8 9' 8-14# spinning rod and a Field & Stream 7'9" 8-17# casting rod and using braided lines.
I'm looking to get a more sensitive casting rod with strong backbone (My Field & Stream is nice but I would like to be able to feel more), and I found the Lamiglas XCC 934 rod in my local sports shop. Will this be a good rod for me, for salmon and steelhead? I only fish on the bank or in my waders.
Thank you for your help!

The XCC 934 was first designed as a herring rod but a lot of fisherman are finding many applications for this rod. For what you are fishing for it seems as though an all graphite rod would best suite you. I would suggest something like our X 89MTC. Which has a line rating of 10-20lb. , and should work for pretty much everything that it sounds like you will be targeting. Hope this helps.
Great! Thank you very much! I'm going to buy one (X89MTC) tomorrow.
i also had a similar question about this rod. A friend of mine has a cabela's xml rod model xcst906-2. After using it, I wanted to purchase one, but they are discontinued. The xcc934 although a little longer seems to be fairly similar. I am mainly drifting beads from the bank in the American River in Sacramento Ca, though sometimes cast 3/4 oz or 1 oz lures. Any suggestions for rods that would be comparable to his Cabela's rod?
Sharkmother,
I assume you are going to be targeting steelhead drifting beads? If this is the case I would suggest you take a look at our EXC 92 M. This rod is one of our personal favorites here around the factory and will do everything you are wanting it to. Hope this helps.
