I am in my senior years, and no longer wade fish. I am now a live bait, shrimp and finger mullett, float person.
Weather is cooling off here on the gulf coast and I do not need a new rod but want to build what may be the last rod that I will build or need.
Requirements for this rod are listed below.
7 to 7.6 feet. fast tip
Cast a long distance from my boat.
I use a 3 inch popping cork (unweighted), 1/2 ounce inleader weight, and live shrimp and finger mullet (approx 2 inches).
Reel, shimano Curado 200E.
Several years ago I purchased two Lamiglas blanks that were 7 ft. 6 in. I do not remember the number but 844 comes to mind. My son still uses his and the one I built for mysellf hangs on the wall of the garage with about 20 other rods. These two rods have seen many fishing trips and have landed many red fish from 6 inches to 20 lbs.
A lot of change has been made in blanks, and rod components over the past years and I neeed help in the selection of the rod blank.

My choice would be the GSH 90 2MT. Very versatile blank that throws just about anything well. I know some don't like 2 piece blanks, but this rod blank has been to Florida, Alaska, Canada, Christmas Island, Australia, and many other places with a gentlman who takes it along just about anywhere along with a heavier powered 3 piece rod.
With his Shimano Calcutta DC reel, it casts into next week.
No one knows as much as all of us.
