Looking into custom wrapping my own plunking rod to go after Columbia River spring/fall chinook at Warrendale. Torn between the Super Surf SSU 144 2MH and the G1000 GSB 144 2MH, so thought I might seek the Rod Squad's recommendation. Need to heave 12oz, sometimes 14oz, teardrops and be stiff enough to handle the fast current at Warrendale and those rare 40+ lb bruisers. My questions are:
1. Other than the price difference, is there anything else different between these two blanks?
2. Will the slight tip/butt size difference between these two blanks affect casting distance? If so, which one will cast further?
3. Contemplating on whether to extend the butt an extra foot to make it 13' long. I am aware that this will void the warranty. Will casting distance be drastically affected between a 12' and a 13' length on these blanks?
3. If cost is not an issue and you can only choose one blank for the applications specified above, which one would you choose?
Thanks in advance.
