In an early answer to my question you mentioned that Spiral wraped quides allow for an even weight across the rod. Why are spiral wraped quides better than convetional wraped quides or under what conditons do spiral waped quides create and anvangtage over convetional wraped quides.

What spiral wrapped guides do are allow even weight distribution from tip to cork. What I mean by this is that the line will be pulling down on the rod like spinning guides on the upper portion of the rod and the butt section of the rod will be lifting like a conventional casting rod. They would create a great advantage compared to older guides sets allthough now a days there are so many great quality guides out there that the advantage is not that great. They were originally designed for rods that are going to be put under an excessive load constantly. Hope this helps.
