Entry Level Salmon / Steelhead Rod

Hi Experts,

I'm trying to find a rod that will do double duty as a Salmon / Steelhead rod that I can fish bobbers, chuck spinners and drift the local north oregon tributaries (like the Clackamas and Deschutes). From what I've read a Spinning rod is ideal for this.

I initially wanted the MBS86MH but they suggested to go for a lighter rod like the MBS96ML to get the length for the bobber. They said it's a little light for Salmon but should work fine. Now i'm stuck in the middle looking at the MBS86M, has a touch more backbone for the salmon, but is still light enough for steelhead.

These are all G200 series rods and fit into my budget. Any suggestions on reels would be great too.
Thanks!

The MBS96ML would be a great

The MBS96ML would be a great all around steelhead and coho rod although it is a bit light for chinook. It is very hard to find a rod that fits both chinook and steelhead well. I would figure out what rod you need first get that one and then save up for the other rod for the future. Hope this helps.
