can you explain the difference between the two? I am looking for a bank fishing rod for drift fishing, spoons, spinners, other hardware.
the x96mts is supposed to have magnum taper and so should have more landing power. how is the exs92m ranked in landing larger fish?
also, how do they compare in castability and sensitivity?

Most of us around the factory prefer the XMG series for their fast actions and sensativity. What are you going to be fishing for?
I would be fishing mostly for steelhead and salmon (pink, coho, chum), plus other anadromous trout under higher water conditions (late fall, winter).
I am planning to use heavier lures with this rod (I've got an exs96l on order for lighter drift/jig fishing and lower waters in summer-early fall), like spoons, spinners (up to #5), may be plugs, and braided line 12~15lb.
with xmg series I am a little concerned about fragility of higher modulus graphite vs. the more forgiving cert pro series lower modulus and stronger magnum taper.
The XMG series is a very light weight strong series of rods. As long as you are not throwing your rods all over the place you should never have a problem with the XMG series. Hope this helps.
