This winter I purchased the Lamiglas X10MS for float fishing and I think it is great! Easy to work big water and great for casting my presentation long distances. I have another float rod from a different local manufacturer, but prefer fishing the Lami. However, with my Shimano Stradic 3000 find the rod unbalanced which creates fatigue on a long day of casting and mending. I know that allot of float fisherman use the 2500 series, but the weight is the same as a 3000 (minus line). Was curious whether the X10MS was designed to a specific reel or reel size? or will I just need to add quarters?

It would take a bunch of weight to balance a long rod. Ultimately the weight works against you just as much as the balance point does. Frankly, I think an old design from here that was brought to popularity in the midwest is the best design for longer rods. It's called a Skamania grip, almost a reverse of what we use now. The reel weight now becomes a counterweight, balancing the rod without adding extra weight. Holding the grip ahead of the reel while fishing doesn't, at least for me, feel odd. It's been used on centerpin and Chuck and Duck rods also to good effect.
No one knows as much as all of us.
