Hi I am new to the forum, I am 14 years old and avid fisherman on the kalama river. I just bought a new Quantum accurist PT and am looking for a good drift rod to put it on. So far I belive the certified pro X 86 MC or the X 90 MC would be some of the best choices. I fish silvers/steelhead year-long out of a boat or on the bank. Since both rods are medium weight and fast action, what are the differences between the lure weght of the X 86 MC: 3/8-3/4 and the X 90 MC: 1/4-5/8 while casting and fighting fish. Any advice would be helpful to my purchase, thank you.

They X90HC is a little lighter tipped with a little more power in the butt. I believe this is a better all around choice on the Kalama. You just want to make sure you do not high stick this rod as the faster action will not handle it as well.

Would the X 90 HC be your first pick for summer steelhead. Ill aim for chinnooks with a complete different set-up. Thank you for the advice and responding!

In the Certified Pro line it would be my first choice.

I always try for a litle bit of extra length in my drift rods. The length really lets you cast exactly where you want.
