I'm going to be building a new spinnerbait rod, and usually like a very soft tip (to feel the blades thump), extra fast action (for solid hoosets), and tons of backbone. I love my EXC724 for jigging and some other applications, but want a slightly softer tip, coupled with the same backbone and fast action of the EXC724, for the spinnerbaits.
I saw that the EXC704 is built off a popping blank rather than a mag bass blank. Does the EXC704 have the EXC724's backbone and a softer tip, or is it also a slower action? Stock blank or modified blank?
As an alternative, I've considered using an IMC784 blank and extending the butt to build a custom 7'0" spinnerbait rod.
Looking forward to hearing everyone's thoughts.
Keep up the great work at Lamiglas. Great rods! JB

I own both the EXC704 (formerly the EXC704P if I'm not mistaken) and the EXC724. The EXC704 does have a much softer tip than the EXC724 but features a very fast action and plenty of backbone for solid hooksets.

Thank you, Tag_Watson. That gets me going in the right direction. Is the EXC704 an unmodified LP844 blank? If so, I'll likely buy that blank and build a spinnerbait rod from that. Thx. JB
Hey, JayBee. I'm not 100% sure which blank is used on the EXC704. I'm sure someone from the factory will be happy to shed some light on this one.

For the EXC704 we use the LP844
